Match Report
Chafyn Grove Preparatory School Boys-U11A vs  Clayesmore and All Hallows
On: Saturday, 12 Oct 2019
Venue: Away

Things started well for us when Reuben, our captain for the day, won the game of rock, paper, scissors to decide choice of ends!

Triangular fixtures such as these are often really good learning opportunities and today was no exception. Both Clayesmore and All Hallows teams were big and physical but both also tried to play open rugby, too. We edged our first game against Clayesmore 15-10 thanks to 3 opportunistic, quick-thinking tries by George C. However, Clayesmore led for much of the game and the Chafyn boys had to raise their levels of physicality in order to compete - our rucking was much improved!

The second game, against All Hallows was even more physical and the boys were taken by surprise in the first half with the All Hallows team's strong, direct running. A single first half try from Charles was matched, in the second half, by one from William and the result was a far more flattering, and well-earned, 25-10. The Chafyn boys tackling became stronger as the game wore on and they can be proud of their efforts in the second half.

Tackling continues to be the team' main weakness; however, it is steadily improving. Our handling was good today and, if we can support each other better, and run a little straighter, we will cause even more problems for the opposition.
